Palm Beach County Quilters’ Guild

On September 23, 1985, Barbara Logullo and Kathy Ward contacted many Palm Beach County quilt-makers about forming a county wide quilt guild. They hosted a meeting with 24 representatives of 10 quilting bees on Monday, October 28, 1985, from 7 to 9 PM at the Palm Beach Gardens Community Center.  The first order of business was to adopt by-laws and then each group shared their work with others, the Guild’s first “sew and tell”.  A representatives’ meeting was held on November 8, 1985, to form a nominating committee who would propose the first slate of officers.  The Palm Beach County Quilters’ Guild was about to become a reality.

By January 1986, now with 38 in attendance, the nominating committee offered a slate of officers for elections to be held in April 1986.  Currently the Guild has 88 members.

By 1988 the group began to hold monthly meetings at the Flagler Museum.  In the spring of 1996, the Guild moved to the West Palm Beach Garden Club.  After a few more location changes, the Guild currently meets at the Greenacres Community Center.

After more than a quarter of a century, our not-for-profit organization continues to promote knowledge of and interest in quilt making through charitable projects and educational workshops for our members.  The Palm Beach County Quilters’ Guild Inc. meets monthly and offers our members programs, quilt-related trips, educational workshops on traditional and new techniques and fellowship. Our Members continue to offer exciting quilt shows, donate over 200 quilts per year to local charities, organizations and mare, and we continue our long-standing educational demonstrations at the South Florida Fair.

We would love for you to join us.

We meet the 4th Saturday of the month from 10am-12 noon
